INTERMODAL BULK

Intermodal bulk logistics

Connecting suitable dry bulk equipment and road, sea or rail stages between the Benelux and the UK.

One movement across several modes

Intermodal logistics combines different transport modes while keeping the movement planned as a connected route. A bulk or tank container might be collected by road at a Benelux loading point, moved through a port, shipped across the North Sea and collected for UK final delivery. Where practical and available, a rail leg can form part of the wider route.

The equipment must suit the material and both loading and discharge arrangements. For dry bulk powders, polymers and plastic granules, that means reviewing the container type, product requirements, tonnage, site access, timing and handling instructions. We coordinate with transport and handling partners to assess a workable plan rather than assuming one equipment type fits every cargo.

Benelux–UK corridor

North Sea Bulk Logistics BV focuses on movements between Belgium, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. The origin, departure port, crossing and destination each influence the route. A shipment from Belgium may use a local road movement to a port, a sea crossing and a UK road leg. Other combinations can be reviewed where the ports and facilities support them.

We look at port cut-offs, equipment positioning, collection and delivery slots, and empty-equipment return when assessing the full journey. The Belgium–UK bulk transport page follows that corridor in more detail, while How It Works explains the information needed for planning.

Intermodal or road tanker and RoRo?

A suitable container may help connect road, sea and rail stages or fit an established intermodal flow. A road tanker or unaccompanied RoRo tanker may be more appropriate where direct bulk loading and unloading are possible and the trailer can move through the relevant ports. Neither option is automatically best for every shipment.

We compare the loading point, destination, tonnage, product compatibility, discharge method, sailing and delivery requirements before discussing an option. For polymers and plastic granules, handling and equipment suitability are especially important considerations. A regular flow may also call for a different equipment plan from a single spot shipment.

Support beyond the crossing

Some supply chains need a stage before or after the bulk movement. Where appropriate, we can explore port handling, short-term storage, pallet handling, transloading or loading from bags or FIBCs into a suitable tanker through specialist partners. Those services depend on the product, site capabilities and partner availability. Our services page sets out the broader coordination offer.

If you have a route in mind, send the product, origin and destination, tonnage, frequency, dates, and loading and discharge arrangements through the contact page or to enquiries@northseabulklogistics.com. We can then assess a realistic combination of equipment and transport stages.
